Geoff Vreeken is a local copywriter who has worked for advertising agencies like Brandspank, Topshelf Creative, Industrial Brand, Mercer Creative and Cossette West since graduating from BCIT in 2003. On occasion, Geoff also guest lectures on the basics of copywriting for the Art Direction program at VFS.
In January of 2009, like so many creative professionals around the globe, Geoff was laid off due to the recession. As a result, he knew he would have to develop a new online portfolio to show his work.
Geoff thought that was a bit boring; so instead, he turned his portfolio site into a campaign to raise funds and awareness for Covenant House, a charity group that shelters and rehabilitates street youth. The result is www.homelesscopywriter.com, Covenant House's first ever online ad campaign aimed at young professionals—a group notorious for turning a blind eye on charity. Geoff will be unveiling the complete Homeless Copywriter website at this year's Interesting Vancouver Conference.
