As we roll into major award show season my money is on Obama's election campaign to pick up some integrated awards. However, that would only happen if it is entered.
The mistakenly released One Show entry list confirms one entry by Obama for America. Nice.
While many talk about integration and having conviction as a brand and communicating clearly, soooooo few actually do. Even small companies.
The fact Obama's election platform was so deep with meaning as a brand, single minded and more importantly rolled out in a relatively short period across a huge wave of trans media platforms (I refuse to call them "social media" because all media is social and what Obama for America did was beyond all the things "traditionally" defined by socially media types as social media) should be applauded and awarded. And in just three months between election and taking the oath they should at the very least get an award for efficient decision making in a committee environment to implement within the machinery of active government an even deeper layer of trans media communication and citizen engagement.
All this doesn't demonstrate the "awesome power of the internet" or some other hackneyed phrase. It has little to do with what some claim is he gets some new medium or channel. What he gets is much higher level than that. What he gets is audiences, and the fact they exist across multiple platforms and need to be communicated to differently within the context of a given platform. What he gets is how they interrelate. His presence on the Tonight Show last night, the first sitting president on late night TV, further demonstrates he, and his people, are the Trans Media All Stars.
Hope Obama for America wins the elite Black Pencil this year at the One Show.
