I don't know about you, but I've started training for the Olympics. Two solid weeks of 24hr sports, drama and humanity is too much to just wing it. My training regime in the final segment of my periodization plan is intense, starting daily with early morning live Tour de France viewing sessions and ending with a solid hour of Sports Center (Canadian Edition.) Weekends are extra intense with super sets comprising of events like the Federer-Nadal Wimbledon final and Tiger's gimped victory at the US Open. It's been tough but worth it and a well formed couch groove proves it.
And now that we're in the final leg of the lead up the marketing machines are ramping up. Nike, the brand I root to gold, is using the games to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Just Do It. A fresh spot called Courage broke a few days ago and if you're a sports techie person the microsite is really cool as they go through all the sports and the designers and engineers talk about what goes into the design.
Nice spot, a cavalcade of superstars and iconic performances and as with most things Nike it's epic without being overly earnest.
