Biography
While more fashionable people of the time were being born in New York, London and Biarritz Brett Macfarlane joined the world via Vancouver on the West Coast of Canada. Following a stint as an international downhill ski racer he left Canada for America to be educated in the abstract extremes of liberal arts then started his first career as an alpine ski coach. After starting adult life with such a noble profession it all went sideways and he ended up in advertising.
An action sports maketing start up in Olympic host city Whistler led to roles in the big agency world. Stubbornly eschewing trends, fads and short term wealth Brett resolutely remained an integrated hybrid business director and planner bridging the old and news worlds of marketing. This led to a bunch of things called Lions, Pencils and Clios along with other shiny objects including strategic and effectiveness gongs.
